Let's Dish

It's raining. It's always been raining, as a matter of fact, and it will continue to rain for the foreseeable future. Why not? After all, there is so much to do indoors in May; why go outside?

We can wash dishes by hand, for instance, and dry them and put them away. Again and again and again...at least until we repair our dishwasher, which will not be until I pay off the car. Because I'm stubborn that way.

We've been washing the dishes by hand for several days now, but Anna just figured out this morning that the dishwasher was broken. I relayed this piece of information to Larry, who said, "Gee, maybe she needs to take Getting A Clue 101. Maybe she should major in getting a clue. Do you think they would have advanced courses, like Getting A Clue 302 - It's Not Just About You?"

I think the past 3 years are starting to wear on him, don't you?

  1. Awesome. If teenage girls could major in Getting a Clue, just think of the required courses:

GAC 101 - An Intro to Life
GAC 102 - An Intro to Life, Part II
GAC 110 - Money Really Doesn't Grow On Trees
    GAC 112 - Getting a Job
GAC 140 - Not Only Doing Your Homework, But Actually Turning It In. On Time.

GAC 201 - Navigating The Mall Without Spending $100
GAC 205 - Intro to the Dollar Movie Theater
GAC 230 - Makeup and Clothing - How To Not Resemble a Whore

The possibilities are endless. I think I'd be funnier if I wasn't so dang tired.

  2. I'm assuming you will be the Professor? I don't see her taking that particular course.

  3. In the wee hours of the morning yesterday I woke up and heard more rain and the tag line of The Crow went through my head: "It can't rain ALL the time."

    Yes. Yes, it can.

(Actually, we got a brief shot of sunshine yesterday afternoon and the boys went out to play. *ducking* But it's raining again now.)

  4. Shelley, those are wonderful. Now we just have to find a school that offers them...

  5. I think fathers of teenaged daughters have it so much harder than the mothers do. My husband is now entering the "I wish she'd spend more time with the family" and "why can't she be like this all the time" stage. It's going to be a long 6 years.

  6. I don't have teenagers but would like to add, how about a course called "GAC 311: No, You Do Not Have Rights Under My Roof"

  10. It was nice yesterday morning and early afternoon. I hung up the laundry and some was dry before I sat down with the baby and fell asleep in the recliner. I woke up to the sound of thunder and rain. Of course the kids did not think to take the previously dry clothes off the line, as we did not specifically tell them to.

Hopefully the repairman Sears sends this time will figure out what is wrong with the dryer, as my allergies do not like me being outside for long enough to hang several loads of laundry on the line eevry day. And the dry laundry has so nuch pollen in it that I itch if I touch the clothes too long.

  11. It's raining here too. Again. Still?

I'm thinking I need to assign more chores around here, to make the ones that I actually DO need them to do seem less horrible. Think it would work?
